Carpal Tunnel
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Find out what carpal tunnel it and what cause it. Also how it is diagnosed and treated.
- Median Nerve - The median nerve is the only nerve that passes through the carpal tunnel, so it plays a large part in carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Tendon - Sinew - Achilles tendon is a particularly large tendon connecting the heel to the muscles of the calf. It is so named because the mythic hero Achilles was said to have been killed due to an injury at this spot.
- Carpus - Wrist Bones - See how the skeleton of the hand is subdivided into three segments: the carpus or wrist bones; the metacarpus or bones of the palm; and the phalanges or bones of the digits.
- Wrist Ligaments - See many different kinds of wrist ligaments and wrist joints
- Dupuytren's Disease - Find out what Dupuytren's disease is and as well as its signs and symptoms. What causes this disease and how we treat it.
- Ganglion Cysts - Ganglion cysts usually come from nearby joints or tendon sheaths. There is no specific cause.
- Trigger Finger - ...usually occurs near the crease in the middle of the palm of the hand, and the patient feels pain in this area as well as over the top of the finger.
-
Muscle Pain
- Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) - PMR is a disorder associated with pain in the shoulder and hip. It is associated with giant cell arteritis which is a more serious condition.
- Temporal arteritis - It is also called giant cell arteritis is an inflammatory disease of blood vessels (most commonly large and medium arteries of the head). The inflammation may affect blood supply to the eye and blurred vision or sudden blindness may occur.
- Polymyositis - Polymyositis means "many muscle inflammation".
- Dermatomyositis - Dermatomyositis is connective-tissue disease that is characterized by inflammation of the muscles and the skin.
-
Neck Pain
- Neck Pain - Very few patients require surgery to relieve neck pain. For the vast majority of patients, a combination of rest, medication and physical therapy will relieve neck pain.
- Neck Sprain - Pain, especially in the back of the neck, that worsens with movement ... often peaks a day or so after the injury, instead of immediately...
-
Back Pain - Back pain is one of humanity's most frequent complaints and does not always reflect any underlying condition.
- Vertebral Column - The vertebral column (backbone or spine) is a column of vertebrae situated in the dorsal aspect of the abdomen. It houses the spinal cord in its spinal canal.
- Low Back Pain - Four out of five adults will experience significant low back pain sometime during their life.
- Low Back Exercise - Your orthopaedic surgeon and physical therapist may recommend that you exercise 10 to 30 minutes a day one to three times a day during your early recovery.
-
Shoulder Pain
- Shoulder Pain - You may feel pain only when the shoulder is moved, or all of the time. The pain may be temporary and disappear in a short time, or it may continue and require medical diagnosis and treatment.
- Rotator Cuff Tears - We "shoulder" responsibility, put our "shoulders to the grindstone" and occasionally "carry the weight of the world on our shoulders." Perhaps that is why more than 4 million people in the U.S. seek medical care each year for shoulder problems.
-
Elbow Pain
- Lateral Epicondylitis - Pain near the bone on the outer side of the elbow known as the lateral epicondyle.
-
Tendons Pain
- Tendon Injuries - Extensor and flexor tendon injuries.
- DeQuervain's Tendonitis - The pain is over the thumb side of the wrist, and it can travel up the forearm. Usually it is worse with the use of the hand and thumb, especially grasping things or twisting the wrist.
-
Bones Pain
- Bone - Bone structure, bone pathologies and Terminology, bone formation, and functions.
- Bone Fractures - A bone fracture is a medical condition in which a bone becomes cracked, splintered, or bisected as a result of physical trauma.
- Hand Fractures - A fracture occurs when force is applied to a bone that is enough to break it.
- Internal Fixation - The development of sterile surgery reduced the risk of infection so that doctors could work directly with the bone and could implant materials in the body. New materials such as stainless steel, cobalt and titanium were not only durable, but also had the strength and the flexibility to support the bone.
-
Joints Pain
- Osteoarthritis - Osteoarthritis is a very common condition, affecting the joints, often described as "wear and tear" arthritis. This can start from our teens and gets worse as we grow older.
- MP Joint Arhtritis - Difficulty using the hand for daily activities such as holding or gripping a cup, fingers slowly drifting (leaning) to the little finger side of their hand are signs and symptoms of metacarpophalangeal.
-
Knee Pain
- ACL Reconstruction - When you twist your knee or fall on it, you can tear a stabilizing ligament that connects your thighbone to the shinbone. An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) unravels like a braided rope when it's torn and does not heal on its own. Fortunately, reconstruction surgery can help many people recover their full function after an ACL tear.
- Meniscal Tear - You might experience a "popping" sensation when you tear the meniscus. Most people can still walk on the injured knee and many athletes keep playing. When symptoms of inflammation set in, your knee feels painful and tight. For several days you have: stiffness and swelling, tenderness in the joint line, and collection of fluid ("water on the knee").
-
Others
- Congenital Abnormalities - Congenital constriction bsands, where threads of amniotic membrane separate from the lining and become wrapped around the fingers and/or hand, can cause defromity in some babies during pregnancy. The cause of this effect is unknown.
- Nerves Injuries - Nerves are fragile and can be damaged by pressure, stretching, or cutting....If both the nerve and insulation have been cut and the nerve is not fixed, the growing nerve fibers may grow into a ball at the end of the cut, forming a nerve scar or neuroma. A neuroma can be painful and cause an electrical feeling when touched.
- Splints And Casts Care - Never remove the cast yourself. You may cut your skin or prevent proper healing of your injury. Your doctor will use a cast saw to remove your cast.
- Using Crutches, Canes And Walkers - If you ever break a bone in you leg or foot, have a surgical procedure on your lower limb or suffer a stroke, you may need to use crutches, a cane or a walker.
- Diagnose Imaging Techniques - These tools let your doctor "see" inside without cutting you and get a "picture" of your bones, organs, muscles, tendons, nerves and cartilage, plus any abnormalities.
-
Procedures
- Arthroscopy - Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure orthopaedic surgeons use to visualize, diagnose and treat problems inside a joint.
-
Arthroscopy Exercises - Regular exercise to restore your knee mobility and strength is necessary. Your orthopaedic surgeon may recommend that you exercise approximately 20 to 30 minutes two or three times a day.
- Initial Exercise - Hamstring contraction; Quadriceps contraction; Straight leg raises; Buttock tucks; and Straight leg raises, standing.
- Intermediate Exercise - Terminal knee extension and supine; Straight leg raises, 5 sets; Partial squat, with chair; Quadricep stretch, standing.
- Advance Exercise - Knee bend, partial, single leg; Step-ups, forward; Step-ups, lateral; Terminal knee extension, sitting; and Hamstring stretch, supine.
- Arthoscopic Surgery - Arthoscopic surgery will be performed either on an outpation basis or in a hospital, depending on the procedure and the surgeon. All arrangements for your upcoming surgery will be made by our surgery scheduler.
